Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch raided a job consultancy in Malad (West), on January 11, and found out that it was cheating job aspirants from across India on the pretext of jobs in Russia.

It was run by Mainuddin Musuruddin Shaikh, 44; Sapurid Shaikh Shamsuddin Shaikh, 34; Moinuddin Goldar Aminuddin Goldar, 34; Jayantkumar Panchanan Mandal, 38; Abdul Hasim Shaikh Ajadul Islam, 33; and Tarak Manoranjan Mondal, 32, who were arrested following the raid. All six of them are from West Bengal and are school drop-outs, reports Hindustan Times.
They had offices in Kolkata and Mumbai and were cheating job aspirants from across the country.
“Their modus operandi was to contact job aspirants from outside the state where they would set shop and not entertain any locals from the same city or state in which they set up office,” said Inspector Sanjeev Gavade of Mumbai Police.
They would ask applicants to send their passports and send Rs 80,000 and Rs 125,000 for services such as visa processing and plane tickets. The head of the gang, Mainuddin would post their services through WhatsApp and employment websites.
“Around 20 people I know have given their passports to Mainuddin for jobs and all have deposited ₹80,000 each,” said a victim.
