A 29-year-old balloon vendor was crushed under a four-wheeler while she was breastfeeding her five-month-old son at the Kora Kendra signal in Borivli West, on Tuesday night.

The woman was declared dead on Wednesday while the infant, Rivansh, was admitted for treatment at Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivli West and the doctor later discharged him as he was well.

According to Dhanraj Bawariya, the husband of the deceased, Ladbai, he and his wife used to live in Ghodbunder in a rented house. They had gone to Borivli West to sell balloons and mobile stands at different signals.

Bawariya in his statement said that at 8 pm he was informed by a strawberry vendor that his wife and son had met with an accident below the under-construction flyover bridge at Kora Kendra. He ran towards the signal to find them bleeding and in an unconscious state. Bavaria told the police that the other witnesses of the accident told him that his wife was breastfeeding their son when a car with a green number plate ran them over and fled the spot, said an officer.
