A case of the kidnapping of a 29-year-old actor and demanding a ransom of Rs 20 lakh from his mother has come to light. The Oshiwara police registered a case against unknown persons in the matter on Saturday, as the kidnapping incident occurred on the eastern express highway between Vikroli and Ghatkopar at midnight of Friday. The Oshiwara police have registered an FIR and transferred the case to the Ghatkopar police for further investigation. The Ghatkopar police and the local crime branch are investigating the case.

According to the police sources, the actor left his house along with his one friend on Friday evening and after roaming in the south Mumbai area went to Chembur and there they were coming back towards Jogeshwari.
Another person, who was his friend’s friend, joined them on the eastern express highway near Ghatkopar and they were heading towards Virkoli-Powai road.

The actor was sitting in the front seat his friend was driving the car while heading towards Ghatkopar one of his friend's friend also joined them and he sat in the back seat.
While the car was heading towards Vikroli, the person who was sitting in the back seat suddenly remove a pistol-like weapon and put the point on the actor's head threatened him and asked him to call his mother to give Rs 20 lakh as ransom to release, said an officer. The actor was scared and when the speed of the car gets a little slow he jump out of the car and escaped.
However, he informed the incident to his mother and approached the Oshiwara police station in the wee hours, the officer added.
We have recorded his statement and registered the case under various sections of IPC. The incident happened in the jurisdiction of Ghatkopar and we have transferred the case to them. Now the Ghatkopar and local crime branch officials are investigating the case, said another officer.
Looking at the incident, it seems it was adopted in a well-planned manner the accused knew that the mother of the actor is a producer and would give money to them for his release, said another officer. Since the accused are unknown, they are likely to be caught soon, he added.
