A woman allegedly stabbed her brother-in-law to death after a petty argument and later attempted to kill herself in Thane district of Maharashtra, the police said on Monday, reported the PTI.

She allegedly attempted suicide by slitting her wrist at her home in Thane district, the police said.
The incident took place at the woman's house in the Sonarpada area of Dombivili town on Sunday afternoon, an official said, as per the PTI.
According to the PTI, the woman was identified as 34-year-old Sangeeta Mengane. She had an argument with her brother-in-law Sagar, 38 and allegedly attacked him with a knife in a fit of rage, killing him on the spot, he said.
She then tried to commit suicide by slitting her wrist with a sharp object, he said, adding that the woman is currently undergoing treatment.
The victim sustained several stab wounds to his chest, and his body was sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by the victim's wife, the official said, the news agency reported on Monday.
Man booked for beating neighbour to death in Thane
The police in Maharashtra's Thane district on Sunday registered a case against a 24-year-old man for allegedly beating his neighbour to death, an official said, the news agency reported.
Tahiadalai Insanalai Ansari allegedly attacked Joharali Pyare Ansari (32) at Usarghar in Dombivili area which led to the latter's death, he said.
Citing the first information report (FIR), the official said that Joharali suspected that his wife had an affair with the accused and the couple often fought over this.
On Saturday night, Joharali came home drunk and assaulted his wife.
Hearing her screams, Tahiadalai rushed to her house and thrashed Joharali with a wooden roll.
Joharali was taken to a hospital and was sent back after treatment. But he died in sleep, prompting his wife to lodge a police complaint against Tahiadalai, said station house officer of Manpada police station in Dombivali.
Tahiadalai has been booked for murder, he added.
