Maharashtra: Woman dies by electrocution in Palghar

A 35-year-old woman allegedly died by electrocution in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Thursday, an official told the ANI.


The incident took place at the Garel Pada area of Nalasopara in Palghar district, the police said.


The deceased was been identified as Soni Jagnarayan Gupta, the official said.


He said that upon receiving the information about the incident the police reached the spot and shifted her to the hospital where she was declared dead by the doctors.

Her body was later sent for postmortem, the police said.

Further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, last week, two factory workers saved the life of an eight-year-old girl who suffered an electric shock while walking on the road in Palghar district, the PTI had reported on July 7.

The girl came in contact with a live wire dangling from an electric pole, the official had said, according to the PTI.

"The girl suffered an electric shock and her friends raised an alarm. Two factory workers on their motorbike passing by rushed to the spot and pulled out the fuse from the pole to disconnect the power supply and rushed the unconscious girl to a nearby hospital," the official.

The timely intervention of the two factory workers identified as  - Suhas Mhatre and Chaitanya Vartak saved the child's life, the officials said.

"The child's condition is stable now and she is out of danger," medical superintendent Dr Dipti Gaikwad of the Palghar Rural Hospital said.

Earlier, on July 3, a 33-year-old man was allegedly electrocuted after he came in contact with live wire while walking on the road in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police had said, according to the PTI. 

The incident had taken place in Nalasopara, the officials had earlier said, as per the PTI.

The victim Asish Sharma was walking along the road in Pragati Nagar area, when his footwear got entangled in the electric supply box and when he tried to free himself, he suffered a severe electric shock and died on the spot, the official said.
