A two-month-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped from south Mumbai two days ago was on Thursday reunited with her parents after police nabbed a couple and rescued the infant from Antop Hill area, the police said.

According to the police, a 30-year-old woman living on a footpath in L T Marg area approached police late Tuesday night saying her infant daughter was missing. On receiving the complaint, the Azad Maidan police registered a case under section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code. The cops informed several police stations under the south Mumbai jurisdiction and formed eight teams to locate the culprit and rescue the baby, the police said.

The teams examined many CCTV footages and finally spotted a man carrying the baby. The suspect, a 46-year-old man was also spotted in the footage at Wadala area. The police further investigated about his whereabouts and nabbed him from Antop Hill area and rescued the kidnapped infant, the police said.
"The man and his wife were arrested in the matter. The police suspect that the child was kidnapped allegedly to be sold and is now investigating if the couple have been involved in any similar cases in the past," an official said.
Following the rescue, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar handed over the baby to her parents.
