Former Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh declared an absconder: Mumbai Police

Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh on Wednesday has been declared an absconder by the 37th magistrate court based on a proclamation application of Mumbai Crime Branch in connection with the Goregaon extortion case in which dismissed API Sachin Waze was arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch.


"The court has allowed the proclamation application of Mumbai Crime Branch, now officially he is absconder in the case," said public prosecutor Shekhar Jagtap.



The Mumbai crime Branch had earlier issued multiple summons to Singh at all his addresses available in government records. The former CP didn't respond to any of the summons and he was not available at his residence in Chandigarh and Rohtak while Mumbai police officials visited his residence to handover the summons.


He was booked by Goregaon police in an extortion case registered by hotelier  Bimal Agarwal where Waze extorted money from him on behalf of Singh and there were certain audio recordings which the complainant has submitted to police.

The Mumbai Crime Branch recently moved a proclamation application before the court to declare him absconder as he has not been responding to the summons, the court has allowed the application of the crime branch.

The Mumbai branch is now going to seek details of his all properties from the home department to start the process of attaching all his them. The crime branch is also going to initiate a process of issuing a red corner notice against Singh as there are reports that he may have fled the country.

Singh has been booked by Maharashtra Police in multiple extortion cases and he is also a prime suspect in Antilia threat and Mansukh Hiran murder case.
