Accused lies every time he is questioned, say cops; two Maharashtra police personnel leave for Chhattisgarh for inquiry
Two vehicles coming from Odisha were searched by Bastar Police from which the officers recovered 150 kg cannabis
A police constable from Mira-Bhayander Vasai Virar headquarter, who was among the seven accused nabbed by Chhattisgarh police for smuggling cannabis, is not cooperating with the investigation, the police have said.

B R Naag, inspector attached to Nagarnar police station, said, “Constable Mohd Sajid Pathan is lying every time he is questioned about the crime. He has said that he visited Chhattisgarh to attend a wedding function and was heading to Mumbai by Innova car, in which 80 kg of cannabis was recovered.”
“During the search of Pathan’s belongings, we have recovered a chequebook. We are yet to get the information from the bank. Maharashtra police have been informed about Pathan’s arrest and the criminal record of the arrested accused is being acquired. Two state police personnel have left for Chhattisgarh for inquiry,” he added.

Pathan was caught along with six others accused by Bastar police of Chhattisgarh for smuggling 150 kg cannabis worth R7.50 lakh at the Odisha border last week. An Ertiga vehicle coming from Odisha was stopped during the search of the vehicles, from which the officers recovered 70 kg cannabis and arrested two smugglers Ankit Jaiswal, 21, and Chand Pasha, 23, both of whom are residents of Maharashtra. The police later stopped an Innova vehicle and recovered 80 kg of cannabis from it. They caught Ajay Patel, 22, Suraj Maurya, 22, Ritesh Singh, 22, and Mohd Sajid Pathan, 32, from the second vehicle.
