NCB took Khan into custody on March 31, days after the arrest of alleged drug supplier Shadab Batata. Sources the anti-drug agency will seek his custody for more days on the grounds that Khan was in touch with more peddlers apart from Batata.
Khan’s name cropped up during the questioning of Batata. Sources said Batata has told the NCB that Khan was a part of his drug business. An NCB officer said they have found bank transfers between the two.
The agency’s Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede said, “Ajaz Khan was in contact with several drug peddlers. Was Ajaz selling someone the drugs sourced from the peddlers? NCB has to investigate this. NCB will seek an extension of his custody.”
