Meerut: Some bike-borne assailants today robbed a businessman of Rs eight lakh here when he was returning home with the cash, police said.

The incident took place this night when the businessman, identified as Vipin and residing near Filmistan Cinema Hall here, was returning home from his office at Nehru Nagar with Rs eight lakh, police said.

The armed miscreants arrived on the spot on two bikes and robbed Vipin by breaking one of the glasses of the car, Police Superintendent Om Prakash said.

The search for the accused is on, he said.
