Meerut: A court here sentenced two persons to two years in jail for bribing a police officer seven years ago.


Sunil Malik and Jolly Malik were held guilty under the Prevention of Corruption Act by Special Judge Umesh Chand Sharma yesterday. A fine of Rs 10,000 each was also slapped on them.


The then Circle Officer of Budhana area Shrichand, had lodged FIR against them and alleged that the two were caught while offering a bribe of Rs 65,000 to him at his office at Shahpur police station in Muzaffarnagar district on June 4, 2007, Government lawyer DN Sharma told reporters. Police had recovered the cash from the table of the officer and had arrested them.
