Travel agent arrested for giving fliers forged tickets

The Vimantal police have arrested a travel agent who forged the identities of five passengers to accommodate them on 11:30 am Pune-Delhi flight on Wednesday. Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials at Pune’s Lohegaon airport spotted the forged tickets and nabbed the agent on the spot.

The accused has been identified as Navin Satish Goyal (31), a resident of Mahesh Society in Bibwewadi. He has been remanded to police custody for two days.

Booked
Police Sub-Inspector Uday Prabhakar Baviskar from CISF has lodged a complaint against Goyal under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 511 (attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police Sub-Inspector H B Markad said, “Goyal runs a travel agency and had done group booking of 73 persons for the Pune-Delhi flight in January. The group booking was done for an agriproduct company from Ahmednagar who had sponsored a five-day Delhi tour for their dealers.”

“On Wednesday morning, out of the 73 persons on whose names the tickets were booked, five could not make it for the tour and so the company had asked Goyal to send five other people in place of them. Goyal pasted photographs of the newly added five and kept the names and details of the old ones. When CISF PSI Baviskar checked these tickets, he smelled something fishy and asked for identity verification,” PSI Markad said.

“Goyal is a B Com graduate and comes from a well to do family background. We will also question the agro company officials in this case to find out whether they had asked Goyal to forge identities of their dealers,” Markad added.
