Six members of a family, including four women, were on Monday booked by the Thane police for preventing a police team from arresting a person wanted in a case of cheating.
Police said that an offence had been registered by NM Joshi Marg police in Mumbai against some people for cheating a woman in a bank.
CCTV footage showed that an accused, Javed Sakar, was hiding in Ambivli in Kalyan, police said, following which a police team from Mumbai moved to nab him.
Officials said that six members of a family prevented the police for entering the house long enough to allow Sakar to esacpe. An official said that a search was on for Sakar.
