Spurned lover stabs 13-year-old to death

A 19-year-old boy in Karnataka stabbed a minor girl to death, as she turned down his proposal, and later tried to kill himself.

A spurned lover stabbed a minor girl to death and later tried to commit suicide today, police said.

Hyder (19) had been pestering the 13-year-old girl, who belonged to the same community as his, to accept his proposal, but she did not.

The girl's parents had warned the youth and also informed his parents.

Today, when the girl was on her way to a private tailoring institute, Hyder accosted her, stabbed her several times and chopped off her ear lobe, killing her on the spot, police said.

He then banged his head on a boulder to end his life, but passers-by rushed him to a hospital. Police have registered a case against him.u00a0
