The juvenile, along with the three accused, identified as Praveen Chandrakant Khambe (20), Prashant Ramesh Waghavle (20) and Tushar Rajendra Jadhav (23), are residents of Dandekar Pul area and work as assistants at a private bank and jewellery store in the city. Nitesh was working at a lottery centre at Dandekar Pul and a resident of Vadgaon Budruk.

Inspector Sambhaji Nimbalkar from Dattawadi police station said, “The deceased and accused were friends and would meet regularly. The 16-year-old and Nitesh recently had a brawl over some issue, after which the boy planned to murder him. He called the other three and told them about his plan.”

According to police, on September 11, the four men called Nitesh at Vadgaon Budruk and took him to Vardhana Ghat in a car where they strangulated him with a cloth. They threw his body out of the car on the Bhor-Mahad road on their way back. It was not until September 15 that the body was found by Bhor police who informed cops in the city.

A team from Dattawadi police station reached the spot and identified Nitesh. Meanwhile, cops checked the call details of the deceased and his friends’ names came up, after which they were arrested. During interrogation, the four admitted their crime.
