The Dattawadi police yesterday arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl in Parvati last week.
The arrested accused was remanded in police custody till May 9 by a court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) yesterday.
The accused has been identified as Bharat Balkrushna More (28), a resident of Poladpur in Raigad district.
He has been charged under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3 and 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Police sub-inspector S M Kshirsagar, investigating officer in the case, from Dattawadi police station said, “The survivor’s family is staying on rent in the area and the accused was residing at his uncle’s house, which is in the area. He had come to Pune around eight days ago to look for a job.”
“When the girl was playing in front of her house on Friday afternoon, More took her into the house and raped her. When the girl returned to her house, she started complaining of pain. She told her mother about the incident, after which the family decided to contact the police,” PSI Kshirsagar said.
Medical tests
“We have conducted a medical examination of the girl, while More’s medical tests will be done during the police custody period,” added inspector Kshirsagar.
