The Warje-Malwadi police have arrested a man for posing as a deputy collector with the revenue department and duping a builder of Rs 6 lakh by promising him that he would help him in a land-related dispute by realising a stay order notice from the department.
The person has been identified as Nandkumar Lohar and builder Santosh Balkavade has registered the case. According to the police, Balkavade purchased land in Paud village, which was under litigation, in 2008.

In June, Balkavade met Lohar through an acquaintance. Lohar introduced himself as the deputy collector (revenue) at the Pune collector’s office and promised to help him. u00a0“In return, he demanded Rs 6 lakh and the builder gave it to him. Lohar then tarted ignoring Balkavade’s calls,” said police inspector Sunil Darekar.u00a0
Balkavade then approached the collector’s office and realised he had been duped. He then lodged a police complaint. “We have arrested Lohar under section 170 (impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC,” said Darekar. u00a0
