Kendrapara (Odisha): The right hand of a grocery shop owner was chopped off allegedly by a man at Shankarpur village in Kendrapara district today triggering tension in the area, police said.

The accused Trilochan Mallah brandishing a sharp-edged weapon attacked Manoranjan Rout, a grocery shop owner of the village, they said. In the attack, Rout's right hand got chopped off from the elbow joint portion.
Rout has been shifted to SCB Medical College Hospital in a critical condition, they said. Inspector of Derabish police station Niranjan Sabar said the accused has a history of crime.
Police forces have been deployed in the village as the people are agitated over the incident. Exact motive of the crime is yet to be ascertained and a hunt is on to nab the accused, Sabar said.
