An HIV positive man was arrested here today for allegedly raping her minor daughter for three years, police said

Surat: An HIV positive man was arrested here today for allegedly raping her minor daughter for three years, police said.


"A 42-year-old man was arrested from his residence in city's Sachin industrial area on basis of a complaint filed by her daughter (15) who alleged that her father raped her repeatedly for last three years," police inspector P B Sapra said.

The man is HIV positive and has been married twice, police said, adding, the victim is his daughter from the second wife. According to the victim's statement, her father raped her for the first time when she was 12-year-old and has raped her repeatedly since then. He also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed about the rape to anyone," Sapra said.

The girl later mustered courage and told her mother about it, who accompanied her to the police station to file an FIR, he said. A case has been registered against the man under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation) and sections 4, 8 and 12 of Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.

The victim was sent to a government hospital for medical examination.
