In four separate incidents of break-ins reported over the weekend, burglars made away with booty worth Rs 12 lakh.
While Shriniwas Shatrughan Mishra (58), a resident of Khese Park, and Somesh Narayan Yadav (42), from Santnagar in Lohegaon lodged separate first information reports (FIRs) at the Vimantal police station, Navi Sangvi resident Manish Vijaykumar Chincholikar (38) and Mukund Krishna Vandre (32) of Wakdewadi filed complaints at Sangvi and Khadki police stations, respectively.

In his complaint, Yadav said the burglars struck his residence on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and fled with booty comprising cash, gold ornaments, camera and a wristwatch. Total value of the items stolen, including cash, was pegged at Rs 2.02 lakh.

The thieves stole Rs 2.11 lakh for the showroom owned by Mukund Vandre in Pratibha towers at Wakdewadi on the Pune-Mumbai highway on Saturday night. PSI S R Kulkarni from Khadki police station is investigating the case. Similarly, retired Air Force officer Mishra said the break-in at his residence in Khese Park occurred at a time when he and his wife had gone to attend a cultural programme on Sunday evening.

When the couple returned home around 9 pm, they discovered that burglars had made away with booty worth Rs 5.95 lakh — comprising gold and cash.

Inspector (Crime) Sunil Gharge from Vimantal police station said, “The Khese Park area has plush bungalows. Investigation is on and will nab the culprits soon.”

In Navi Sangvi incident, the Chincholikars were out when the burglary took place.

The housebreakers decamped with cash and gold, together worth Rs 1.74 lakh. Sub-inspector A S Patil from Sangvi police station is investigating the case.
