Hours after a senior television journalist was verbally abused and physically assaulted in the train on his way to the CBI's BKC office, when he tried to video record a brawl inside the compartment, the Andheri Government Railway Police (GRP) registered an FIR in the matter under sections 395 and 397 of IPC. The cops are also going through the CCTV footages to identify the accused.

Speaking to mid-day, Purshottam Karad, deputy commissioner of police, Western Railway, said, "We have formed six to seven teams to search for the accused. We will also approach Pravasi Sanghatna to spread awareness about not blocking the train exits, and even then if people continue to do so, action will be taken against them. We also appeal to commuters that if they see people blocking the exits then they can contact us on 1512 and our officers will reach the location."

When asked about the incident, journalist Sudhir Shukla, said, "Around 7 am, I managed to jostle my way into the train, but the commuters inside started abusing people who boarded from Mira Road station for being rowdy. I tried to diffuse the tension by urging them to remain calm, but to no avail."

"They started assaulting me for taking a video of the incident," the journalist said. When they saw that Shukla was bleeding from the head, they stopped and left the place.
