5 held for plotting to murder old rival

Faraskhana police station officials arrested five persons for hatching a plot to murder a history-sheeter over past enmity.

In addition, the accused had also planned to rob a jewellery shop in Kasba Peth to raise money for court proceedings in caseif they were arrested for the offence.


The accused were identified as Raymond Joseph Clinch (39), resident Shukrawar Peth, Vithu Ramdas Kunjir (22), also from Shukrawar Peth, Bala Nandkumar Oswal (28) from Bibwewadi, Prasad Anant Gandale (36) from Ambegaon and Sanjay Anantrao Kakade (39) from Guruwar Peth.

A country-made pistol, three cartridges and sharp weapons were recovered from accused.


Inspector Bhanupratap Barge said, “Clinch, president of Swarajya Mitra Mandal, and Jagtap were involved in a dispute over vargani collection during Dahihandi.

At that time, Jagtap and his friends damaged Raymond’s car and threatened to kill him.

Since then Clinch and his accomplices have been planning to kill Jagtap.” u00a0
