A 20-year-old girl is allegedly killed and her body set on fire after a suspected rape attempt 

Muzaffarnagar: A 20-year-old girl was allegedly killed and her body set on fire after a suspected rape attempt here, police said.

The case occurred yesterday at Saithpura village in the Purkazi police station area of the district. SP (City) Sarvan Kumar told reporters today that it is being suspected the girl was strangulated to death by the accused, identified as one Ramsaran, when she resisted his attempt to rape her.

Two persons have been taken into custody for questioning, police said, adding that the accused is absconding. The body has been sent for post-mortem and inquiries are on in the matter, police said.
