An apparel brand is celebrating 50 years of its signature denim jacket and it's throwing a musical party at a Mahalaxmi venue to mark the occasion.

The entertainment responsibilities are being taken care of by Prateek Kuhad, who will start the night off on a mellow note, since that is what the nature of his music is. Blackstratblues is up next, and that's when the party will truly kick off since he's armed with a posse of guest stars, including Vishal Dadlani, Tejas Menon, Sidd Coutto and Uday Benegal.

But this won't be your usual Blackstrat gig that consists of the band's originals. Instead, it's a throwback to the '90s, with the set list consisting entirely of covers from the decade and, in the words of front man Warren Mendonsa, "a few surprises thrown in". Coutto says, "The '90s is where it started off for me in terms of music. I didn't really have any plans of being a musician until I heard Pearl Jam when I was 14.

The songs that I'll be singing are songs I love, so it hardly took me any time to practise them, even though I have never played two of them before."

Menon adds, "The gig will have classics you normally don't hear live." So does that mean we won't hear, say, Summer of '69? "Oh trust me, you won't," he ends.
