Team Guide Recommends: A lens of compassion

Mae Martin

After waiting for over a year for Season 2, I sat down last weekend and ate up all six new episodes of comedian Mae Martin’s Netflix show Feel Good. Halfway through, it became hard for me to ‘feel good’ about the story, one that talks about Martin’s life as a recovering addict, but I’m glad to have powered through because the end was truly rewarding. The show dives into the topics of addiction and trauma while maintaining Martin’s deadpan comedy style throughout. It also talks about issues like sexual assault, in ways that many shows haven’t so far. This one may not make you ‘feel good’ but it will give you a few lessons in compassion, much needed in these times.
