Swingin’ Style is the brainchild of Priti Turakhia who volunteered to teach rescued survivors of human trafficking the craft of knotting plastic wires to create shopping bags. The goal was to empower these women, many of whom were minors, with a skill that would lead them towards financial independence. While the project started out using wires made of recyclable virgin plastic, they’ve now switched to recycled plastic, in a bid to be more environmentally-minded too. The bags come in various sizes and bright cheery colours. What caught our eye was their elegant but functional and sturdy design, and affordable prices. They’ve also launched a range of bins and organisers that can be used in various applications around the house.
