City-bred NIFT graduate Sarthika Singha had big dreams of starting her clothing line in 2020. But months after the fashion designer and stylist, 26, moved to her hometown Nashik to get working on it, the lockdown happened.

While figuring a plan, her mother’s ruined scrunchie prompted her to dig into her fabric collection. Once she posted a picture of the scrunchie she made for her mother online, she was flooded with orders. Cashing in on the fact that scrunchies were back in style, she started GoGo-Scrunchies, offering quirky hair-ties.

“I started sending 50 per cent proceeds to an NGO, Feed of Love that provides food to the needy,” explains Singha. “Scrunchies are cute, multipurpose, don’t damage the hair, and despite being small, are making a big difference.”
