The product is well-packaged, and can be stored at room temperature until opened. We also tried the brand’s vegan mayo (R149 for 250 gm) — there was no aftertaste that we find in many eggless mayonnaises, which was a pleasant surprise

The push towards vegan or plant-based food has been gaining momentum. The 2021 Met Gala recently declared that, for the first time ever, the event would feature a chef-curated, 100 per cent plant-based menu. But for recent converts, avoiding time-honed favourites can be a challenge. It doesn’t help that most vegan substitutes for meat and dairy fall short of their counterparts, in terms of taste, cost (many are imported) or recipe-making. This is where Goodmylk’s unsalted butter excels.
A nut-free alternative to vegan staples such as almond or peanut butter, this version tastes like diary butter. You can spread it on toast, melt it in your pav bhaji and use it in bakes. We also whipped it into a passable buttercream. The product comes in a pocket-friendly starter-pack of 100 gm (R70), which works well for first timers, considering many imported alternatives cost at least five times more, and come in larger portions. The product is well-packaged, and can be stored at room temperature until opened. We also tried the brand’s vegan mayo (R149 for 250 gm) — there was no aftertaste that we find in many eggless mayonnaises, which was a pleasant surprise.
