Beauty products made in the kitchen instead of a lab? We test a skin malai with a difference

Malai maar-ke

Nat Habit

When it comes to all-natural beauty brands, we tend to view them through a lens of scepticism since, in most cases, the natural components only appear at the very bottom of the list of ingredients and are often limited to a few paltry extracts. So, when we stumbled across Nat Habit, an indie brand that makes skincare products to order, daily in their kitchen, our interest was piqued. We ordered the fresh whipped skin malai, which combines raw milk with sunflower oil, shea butter, wild turmeric and cinnamon. The product is glycerine-free. The texture, when we scoop some out, is almost crumbly, but it quickly melts into a silky lotion-like texture that disappears into the skin as we rub it in. We were happy to find that the malai doesn’t leave behind a cast and doesn’t smell like actual milk malai (which can be quite polarising). It is very lightly fragranced, and wears well through the day. The affordable price (Rs 311 for 100 ml) is another plus for us.
