Mime is considered one of the oldest and purest forms of theatre art with a history that dates back to ancient Greece and later, in Rome. It is a form of physical theatre which involves acting out a story through body movements without the use of speech.

A three-day workshop conducted by acclaimed mime artist Kunal Motling will take participants through a rigorous course to master the art. The workshop will include lessons in the history of miming, scientific and technical training on body movement and balance as well as technical training sessions on fix-point exercises. The sessions will include lessons that help attendees create body awareness through spatial exercises that help develop precise movements to create illusions. The workshop encourages participants to explore their imagination and creativity to form their own characters using mime walk and illusions.

Miming is found to be extremely beneficial in theatre and understanding one’s body and exploring the idea of space on stage. The art form has helped actors and performers to express through their being, as the focus is more on movement than on speech. This course promises to help performers hone their skills and enhance their performances by adding a dimension of awareness.
