For most adults, there is a long list of hobbies that had to take a backseat when one had a whole lot of growing up to do. But it's never too late to pick up a passion again while also doing your bit for society. Arstraction, a brand-new art venture in the city, is hosting their first interactive painting workshop which will also teach street children for free.

Paint for a cause

It is an initiative started by Prashant Dubey and Moumita Roy, two self-taught artists who believe in making the process of creation fun and inventive. "As a child, I could not afford elementary art classes or a canvas, so I used to take notes from art journals of friends," says Roy, who comes from a theatre background. While Prashant is an architect and avid street photographer, his inspiration comes from observing and making street sketches, stickers and wall paintings as a child.

The workshop will focus on abstract themes and engage with underprivileged kids. Their paintings will be auctioned at the end of the event and the proceeds will be given back to them. The duo has also collaborated with Indian Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Association as their special guests. "We plan on travelling to the interiors of the country and collaborating with various other artists in the future, to make art accessible for those who can't afford it," Dubey says.
