Sign up for a 10-day challenge with a crew to run 10km every day at different locations across Mumbai
Back in 2012, fitness enthusiast Deepak Oberoi urged his friends, Tushar Motwani and Bhuvandeep Chowdhary, to join him in an experiment — running 10km every day for 10 consecutive days at Marine Drive. "It was challenging, especially after the fifth day. However, it was an accomplishment that has stayed with us," affirms Oberoi, who now runs the online platform Mumbai Runners with Motwani, and also leads bi-weekly runs for Bombay Running Crew. This Friday, the team will launch a concept, titled 10x10, for the public. "The event is open to all but not recommended for newbies. You can run at your own pace as the idea is to beat the distance and not the time," says Motwani.

The organisers have plotted the run in various locations. While the participants will run in the Shivaji Park neighbourhood on the first day, the list also features Bandra Fort, Santacruz West, Nariman Point, Worli, Powai, the bylanes near Gateway of India and Powai. "We've tested all the routes and they are running-friendly. We will also have hydration points that will be stocked with water and energy drinks at various locations," he adds. The team has received 70 registrations so far. If you're keen to participate, the team suggests you restrict your daily fitness routine to only light workouts and regular stretching, and avoid long runs until the day of the event. Keep yourself hydrated. The organisers have also drawn up a list of warm-up routines to be followed before and after the run on those 10 days. Listed on their portal, Mumbai Runners, the exercises include jumping jacks, butt kicks, power lunges and calf raises.
