It's a treat for metal fans. Supergroup Nitro, comprising guitar legend Michael Angelo Batio, Lamb of God's drummer and Grammy award winner Chris Adler, vocalist Jim Gillette and bassist Matt DeVries, who have come together for the first time, will be in the city this week. We asked them some quick questions ahead of their trip.
Excerpts from an interview:
Michael, can the audience look forward to some shredding? And how does one become the fastest guitarist of all time?
Yes. There will definitely be a lot of shredding. All one needs to get perfect is practice, practice and more practice.
Chris, you are known for your left-handed playing on a right-handed kit. What do you think takes to be a first class drummer?
It's more about incorporating the many influences you have into a specific genre and making it your own. For example, my favourite drummer is Stewart Copeland from the Police, and making that style my own while introducing it into metal is what helps.
James, what kind of songs can the audience expect?
High energy, fast-paced stuff.
Matt, the bass is an often misunderstood instrument. What does it take for a bassist to stand out?
It's mainly about the tone and a slight percussive element in the bass, which helps stand out in the mix. It's definitely underrated, but absolutely essential.
Anything specific you want to experience in India?
Everything! Unfortunately, the schedule is quite hectic. But we will hit the spice markets for sure.
