Head to a Juhu restaurant this weekend to tuck into a four-course spread served by chef Devika Manjrekar
Sunday brunches are fast becoming the norm at city restaurants, with several throwing in incentives — a karaoke machine here, and live music there — to draw diners in. Joining the fray is Fat Man's Cafe and Grill, which will, starting this weekend, host pop-up brunches as part of their new initiative called A Chef's Affair. "The restaurant celebrates its second anniversary on October 1, so we thought it would be a great time to do something different. We will be opening up our kitchen to upcoming chefs on the first and third Sunday of every month, so they can showcase their repertoire," says owner Rajiv Tandon.

Kicking off the series is Devika Manjrekar, a Le Cordon Blue London graduate, who returned to Mumbai two months ago. While in London, the young chef worked at a pub, Empress E9, as well as an Italian restaurant called Bernardi's. "I held a pop-up at my house last month, after returning to Mumbai. It went well, but it also made me realise that pulling off something like that by myself is not easy. At the upcoming pop-up, I'll have the help of the restaurant staff," says Manjrekar.
Fried Chicken and Waffles
The four-course menu features brunch dishes that draw inspiration from European and Middle Eastern cuisines. The first item on the menu is Avocado on Toast. Next comes the Smoky Chipotle Shakshuka, and Creamy Mushrooms, Parmesan and Grilled Sourdough for vegetarians. Carnivores can savour Turkish Eggs, and Fried Chicken and Waffles. End your meal on a decadent note with Chocolate Chip and Nutella Pancakes.
