If you blink, you might just miss the modest, take-out joint, Grillies, opposite RNA Corporate Park at Bandra East. Luckily, we don’t, and saunter across the road and scan their menu. Grillies offers vegetarian and non-vegetarian rolls, shawarmas, gravies, rice and parathas. We taste five of their items and give you the lowdown on what to pick and what to avoid:

Butter Chicken and Paneer Makhni

Paneer Lasooni Tikka roll (Rs70):
We like how succulent the chunks of paneer are and how fresh the salad is. It can be better if Grillies goes a tad easy on the salt.

Paneer and Chicken shawarmas (Rs 60 each):
We wish we had skipped the paneer shawarma – all there is to it is a lot of mayonnaise-based dressing and salad, but barely any paneer. The chicken shawarma fares better with ample, fresh chunks of chicken.

Butter Chicken gravy (Rs 100):
This dish is, perhaps, Grillies’ best offering. The gravy is rich without being too heavy or overwhelming when it comes to the spices, the chicken is fresh and we like that slight tang to the dish.

Paneer Makhni (Rs 70):
This isn’t a bad option for the vegetarians. Hearing the term ‘makhni’, we expect oil skimming on the surface — but it is absent. Try this with their Paneer Cheese Paratha (Rs 60).
