We've always hoped for Mumbai to be able to recreate a vintage, all-American milkshake/ice cream parlour, and Milkshake & Co. in Lokhandwala, we were told, was hoping to project itself like one.
A visit to the outlet quashed the imagery. It’s not that we didn’t like the simple, endearing interiors; it just didn’t match up to what it was marketed to be.

The second factor that jolted us back to reality was the pricing — Rs 250 to Rs 300 per shake.
The eatery also serves fries and chibattis (or cheese burgers) and mac n cheese waffles. Sadly, these were sold out (so were several other options on the menu); not a good thing, especially when it was just 6 pm on a Sunday. They also serve what is supposed to be the most expensive milkshake in town — Millionaire Milkshake, for '1,500 (it comes topped with gold; it displayed ‘sold out’ on the menu, too).
We picked three shakes — Glaze Donut (Rs 320), Belgian Chocolate (Rs 330) and Peanut Butter (Rs 240). The donut shake tasted like, well, donut but was bland. Just a donut and sugar as ingredients didn’t do justice to what could be a good match.
The Belgian Chocolate Shake was a regular chocolate version, which we could have had elsewhere for one third of the cost. Thankfully, the Peanut Butter shake was delicious. We finished the entire glass.
Given the high prices, we might visit Milkshake & Co. again, but only to try the food (think fries stuffed sliders).
