Besides being the founder of Svatantra Microfinance - company that provides microfinance to women in rural India, Ananya Birla is also the chairperson of Micro Housing Finance Corporation (MHFC) and co-chairperson of Assocham's Microfinance Council of India.
The founder of CuroCarte and the co-founder of Mpower, 26-year-old Ananya Birla has received a number of awards for her work, including the ET Panache Trendsetters of 2016 for Young Business Persons.
Ananya Birla is the eldest daughter of Kumar Mangalam Birla and Neerja Birla. She is the sixth generation of the Birla family.
Ananya Birla is known to have a passion for music from an early age. She learned to play santoor at the age of 11. Besides santoor, Ananya Birla also plays guitar, piano, tabla among other instruments.

Her song was later remixed by Dutch DJ Afrojack, thus making Ananya Birla the first Indian artist whose single was released worldwide at the age of 22.

In January 2019, Ananya Birla released her single titled 'Better'. It received 4 million YouTube views in just 2 days. In the same year, she released her first extended play (EP) titled Fingerprint.
Besides Svatanra Microfinance, Ananya Birla also founded and became the CEO of CuroCarte, an inventory-based global luxury e-commerce platform.
When Ananya Birla was living in England, she became aware of a student helpline that supported youngsters suffering from anxiety and depression that fuelled her to start another company.
After returning from the United Kingdom, Ananya Birla set up MPower an initiative that aims at stamping out the stigma towards people with mental illness in India. MPower later became responsible for opening a treatment centre for children suffering from mental health ailments.
The 26-year-old singing sensation loves tattoos too. In June 2018, Ananya tattooed 24 hours on her left hand near her wrist, while in December 2019, she inked a diamond. Besides diamond, Ananya Birla has inked music symbol, her song name Meant To Be, God, and Bulletproof hearts among others to date.
