In an unfortunate incident, on January 18, Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi met with a car accident on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. She was rushed to the MGM Hospital, Panvel and later shifted to Kokilaben Ambani hospital in Andheri, where she has been going under treatment.
While a host of Bollywood celebrities rushed to the hospital to inquire about her health, there were also a handful of Mumbai's well-known, politicians and industrialists who paid a visit to the ailing actress over the weekend. Among them was industrialist Anil Ambani.

On January 18, Azmi's car collided with a truck on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, near Khalapur toll plaza and she sustained injuries. Besides Azmi, her driver, Amlesh Yogendra Kamat, 38, also suffered injuries. The two were rescued by the highway police along with Roadway Patrolling and the Delta Force.
Industrialist Anil Ambani's wife Tina Ambani was also among the few noted celebrities who reached the hospital as they received the news of Azmi being injured.
As per the FIR filed against actress Shabana Azmi's driver, the car met with an accident due to the negligence of the driver. The report stated: Due to rash driving by the driver, the car hit the moving truck on Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which resulted in the accident

A source close to Shabana Azmi said in an interview with mid-day, "Shabanaji is under observation. There are a few tests going on. She is conscious and stable and there isn't anything to worry about."

Bhujbal also paid a visit to the veteran actress. The 72-year-old politician was seen greeting shutterbugs as he arrived at the hospital to meet Shabana Azmi.
Actor, director and film producer Satish Kaushik, who is in constant touch with the family, and has been paying frequent visits to the hospital told IANS, "Shabanaji is under strict observation. But she is doing much much better than yesterday. Prayers for her speedy recovery."
On Sunday, MNS chief Raj Thackeray too visited Kokilaben Ambani hospital to inquire about the health of the actress. Besides Raj, actress Swara Bhaskar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a host of celebrities prayed for the speedy recovery of the veteran actress.
