The race started from the Air India building in South Mumbai and went on to the Marine Drive flyover and ended at Brabourne Stadium. This is the twenty-first year where Mumbai celebrates this race.

Terry Fox was a Canadian man who was struck with cancer in his right leg. In 1980, to bring awareness about Cancer to collect money for the research, he ran from the east coast to the west of Canada but died during the run after he managed to collect 30 million CAD. This is how the event, Marathon of hope came into existence.
