The French are known for their fashion but these French artistes know how to rock a performance.

We are talking about Rock band, The Inspector Cluzo, who recently delivered a Soul-ful, Funk-influenced Classic Rock with their fourth studio full-length album, Gasconha Rocks.

Guitarist Malcom Lacrouts says, “Our sets are always unique as we always improvise the running orders of our songs. We belong to those sorts of live bands who always change their way of playing, depending on the crowd and where you are — a bit like James Brown did or all Soul bands do.”

The new album’s ten diverse tracks capture the act’s most closely represented recording of their energetic live shows. The band was formed in 2007 when their bassist never showed up for practice, therefore initiating a lifelong goal of abusing and demoting bassists the world over. Boasting a fully DIY attitude and system of composing in every aspect, the duo (drummer/backing vocalist Phil Jourdain) have handled their own management, booking, label and promotion since inception.

They consider not needing a bass player a positive thing.

When asked to name an Indian artiste they admire, Lacrouts says, “For now we’ve just seen Kolkata festival (of NH7 Weekender), but saw one fantastic band with fantastic musicians that impressed us: Indian Ocean who were amazing. We are looking forward to hear more bands because the few we’ve seen have impressed us.”

He concluded by talking about their love of performing at festivals, “It is different than a club gig. In a club, we take time; there is more improvisation. In a festival, you don’t have a lot of time, so you need to go straight to the point and connect with the audience. But we try and keep things random.”
