Curiosity Gym began in 2015 as a makerspace where people could come and learn, collaborate and create. "It's a creative space. We are also working with schools to try and create a makerspace community there. We have one at Cathedral School in Fort," says founder Girish Nair. The makerspace also hosts other workshops — BB8 robot-making, the basics of Arduino, 3D doodling and more intensive three-day sessions. We give you the details of their workshops this week.

Drones are all the rage at big events and celebrations, buzzing around over our heads and capturing fun images and videos. This workshop is for those who want to learn the basics of drones and quadcopters and their components like motors, electronics, control modules, and radio control gear. "We have a drone kit and will teach you the theory and physics behind flying a drone, from how to assemble one, the components actually fly it," says Nair, adding that they will discuss the safety and legal aspects of flying these drones. Takeaway drones are chargeable at Rs 5,000 extra.

"We will teach how to use CAD software, how to model things, the basics of a 3D printer and the theory of printing," says Nair. At the end of the session, you can also build your own products using their 3D printers. The workshop will also touch upon the materials, the safety processes, prototyping and the other different aspects of 3D printing.
