Tansa water main burst in three places after being repaired on Tuesday; cut to continue till the leaks are fixed by today evening
The city, already reeling under a 50 per cent water cut since yesterday, will have to bear the brunt today as well due to a major pipeline burst near Bhiwandi. The pipeline 2,400 millimetre in diameter provides water to a majority of the city. The Tansa water main is undergoing a second set of repairs, after it was reinforced last Tuesday.

After the repairs, when the water was released, the supply line burst at three locations around 1.30 am on Wednesday night. The city was provided with half the water than usual yesterday and this will be done until today evening, when the work will be completed.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has asked citizens to use water in a thrifty manner. R Bambale, chief hydraulic engineer, said, “We are expected to complete work by Thursday evening and there will be a 50 per cent water cut. The Bandra and Khar water cut [that was to be held yesterday and today] has been postponed for now.”
