Sringeri is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage centres in the country. The mutt was home to Shankaracharya for quite some time and is now revered also as the home of the Sharada Devi temple. Like most other Shankaracharya temple towns, the Devi and her worship has remained to be more auspicious at the Vidyashankara Temple that overlooks the Tunga River. Sringeri mutt is 90 kms from CKM town. Dharmasthala is en-route Mangalore and the route from which ever corner of Karnataka you decide to choose, is sure to pass through several traditional temple towns. The holy town is on the banks of the fast flowing Nethravathi and is a pilgrimage centre for both Jains and Hindus. The Sri Manjunatheshwara Temple in all its splendour is an image worth seeing. Dharmasthala is 95 kms from CKM town.

Muthodi and Bhadra
These wildlife sanctuaries are within Chikmagalur district, but spread into the northerly Shimoga district too.
The Muthodi Wildlife Sanctuary is 35 kms from CKM town and spreads over a huge area of Chikmagalur district.
It covers most of the tributaries of the River Bhadra and hence water sports are quite the fad. The sanctuary is a good excursion spot, but staying over might be harder. The Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, earlier known as the Jagara Valley Game Reserve is a 500 square kilometre wildlife sanctuary that is now a recognized Project Tiger reserve. It is also home to animals like the gaur, elephant, leopard cat, jackal, wild dog, barking deer, mouse deer, 99 or so species of butterflies and 32 snake species.u00a0u00a0
