My online pal is not replying to me

Dear Diana,
A year ago, I met this guy online. We exchanged emails and spoke on the telephone before we eventually started sending each other personal snapshots. We became best friends, sharing things about our daily life everyday. He is based in New Delhi and I am in Mumbai. Last month, he told me he would be in Mumbai for two days due to his office work. I was excited about meeting him and we agreed to meet at a coffee house in Bandra. We did meet and chatted away over hot cuppas. He told me he was leaving the next day. I felt we hadu00a0 loads in common to talk about. I could relate to him. It was as if I had fallen for him! But ever since he returned to Delhi, he stopped taking my calls nor is he responding to my emails. It has been two weeks now. What do you think has gone wrong?u00a0

Dear Aabha,

You have bombarded him with emails and calls but he has not bothered to get back. It clearly means he does not want to continue with the friendship unless he is genuinely caught up in something. But two weeks is a long time, he could have at least sent a SMS saying that he is preoccupied or there has been an emergency and that he will get back to you later. I understand how disheartened you feel, my girl. You need to leave this guy alone and begin afresh.u00a0 It is clear that after meeting you, he had a completely different opinion about you and felt is is better to let go. But the least he could have done is tell you the reasons why he decided to move on. At least it would have made it clear where you stand. Considering that he has not replied for the past two weeks, it is better you let go off him. I know it will be difficult for you, but it is better this way. Some things are just not meant to be.

He came on the bike and stopped...

Dear Diana,

My guy dumped me five years ago. There was no contact between us at all all this while. Suddenly the other day while I was walking on the road, a bike stopped and I was surprised to see that it was him! For a second I did not even recognise him. He asked me how I was and then said he had to go! Why did he even bother to stop on seeing me? Should have I even bothered to acknowledge him?

Dear SE,

Considering that he stopped you in your tracks and exchanged greetings, it was right of you to acknowledge him. It is best to act normal and not show that you are affected. As they say you should be civil! Considering that there was no contact for years and you did not even see him, it was not at all necessary to even stop by. But may be after seeing you, he felt like and then realised, he shouldu00a0 not have and left in a tearing hurry. This man certainly does not deserve any attention or space in your life.

I want a tattoo...

Dear Diana,

I am a 19-year-old girl. Most of my friends have a tattoo done on their bodies. I am keen but scared. Is it painful and should I go in for it or simply avoid getting inked. My mother feels I should not. But I think I should. Can you help me?
-u00a0Delphi

Dear Delphi,

Getting inked is a fad nowadays. But before you go about it, you need to think a zillion times where you want to get it done and what you want to inscribe. Removing the tattoo is au00a0 a painful and expensive procedure. For starters you could do a small tattoo done on your shoulder for instance. See how it goes and then decide on a bigger one. Just because everyone else is doing it does not mean that you, too, jump in the fray. Think about it, weigh the pros and cons, and then go to a reputed tattoo studio.
