An online dating service for 'non-singles' has recently declared Hollywood actors Johnny Depp and Jessica Alba, 'the most desirable to have an affair with'. We take a closer look at the results and the two stars 'honoured' with the distinction
'Life is short. Have an affair.' Beating around the bush is not part of the agenda for controversial dating service AshleyMadison.com. The site that offers 'non-singles' the chance to hook up with 'their kind', surveyed more than 30,000 US citizens to zero in on two of the most desirable celebrities they would most like to have an extramarital affair with.

For a business that has been denied a television spot on American channels, and one that has been accused of "being built on the back of broken hearts", the survey is a marketing strategy that has worked well. Though, they're by no means the first, and certainly not the last to cash on the obvious clout of movie stars. Closer home, we need only switch on our TV sets to find products ranging from fairness creams to coffee being hawked by the Bollywood brigade.
But since this piece is about Alba and Depp, let's quickly get to it. Born Jessica Marie Alba on April 28, 1981, Alba made her small screen debut at the early age of 13. Her breakout role was as the lead actress in the television series Dark Angel. Born Catholic, Alba would eventually reject the church's stance on premarital sex and homosexuality, but still believes in God. She is mother to daughter Honor Marie Warren, and husband Cash and she are expecting their second child, later this year.
Johnny Depp. Who knew he'd make being in your 40s (he's 49) look this good! Not us. Blame it on 21 Jump Street. The turning point (for us!) might have had something to do with Edward Scissorhands. Or Chocolat. Or maybe just Chocolat.u00a0
The gorgeous Vanessa Paradis as partner (they've parted ways after 13 years of marriage now allegedly due to Angelina Jolie) and daddy to kids Lily-Rose Melody and John Christopher 'Jack' helps too.
The results
Jessica Alba beat Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson to the top spot. Other female celebrities featured on the survey were Kim Kardashian, Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman. Johnny Depp faced competition from 'list- favourites' George Clooney, Hugh Jackman and Brad Pitt.
US President Barack Obama, Matt Damon, Zac Efron, Jake Gyllenhall and Ryan Gosling were among the contenders. The survey was conducted on more than 30,000 Americans and was carried out by AshleyMadison.com, the online dating service for those already in a relationship.u00a0
