Dear Diana,
I am a 22-year-old student pursuing my postgraduation. I got engaged to a guy of my parents' choice in February.
u00a0
At that time his family had agreed that the wedding would be held in May 2011 after my final exams.
u00a0
But since the past two months, they are insisting that the marriage be held in March. They have said that as my exams will be in May, I will still get time to prepare.
I am in no mood to heed to them. This is my last exam and I want to give it my best shot. My parents are agreeing to their demand.
The guy's family reason that they will be shifting to a new home soon after the wedding, so they want to finish the celebrations before they start packing.
What do I do? Sometimes I feel they are being selfish. I tried talking about it to my fianc ufffd but he told me that I have all the time in the world to prepare for my exams.
I really don't feel like tying the knot before my exams. Sometimes I feel I will never ever appear for the papers after marriage. What do I do?
Sheen
Dear Sheen,
I can fully understand your situation. You want to give your best shot for your last exam. But at the same time don't resort to any hasty decisions.
u00a0
Why don't you tell your fianc ufffd that a new house marks a new beginning. It would be better if he starts his married life in the new home. I am sure he will understand your situation. Explain to the elders, how crucial this exam is for you.
And that you want to give it your best. Taking any drastic steps could only make things worse for you. This will ultimately make you lose your concentration on studies. After assessing the situation, take a call. Or else start preparing much in advance.
During the wedding preparations and immediately after the wedding, it will be impossible to take timeu00a0 out to study.
Prepare a time-table so that if the marriage takes place, you will still have time to study.
There are many women who continue their education after marriage and even after motherhood. If you are determined, nothing can stop you. Best of luck.
What sort of guys do women like?
Dear Diana,
I want to know what sort of physique do girls like in their boyfriends short, fat, skinny or muscular? Also, is there anything else physically that will help me ascertain what women really want in a man?
Roney
Dear Roney
Preferences are preferences and ultimately most women prefer guys who are fit, to guys who aren't. There is no guide book.
Everyone likes something different! If not, we'd all be going out with the same person! Just be yourself. Women like straight and honest guys more than anything else.
Will my boyfriend notice the change?
Dear Diana,
I am a 21-year-old girl who has been dating someone for the last three months. I want to know if a guy would mind it if his girlfriend wears padded bras to make herself look bigger when going out?
u00a0
There are certain bras and tops I can wear that make me look much bigger than I actually am.
My boyfriend would notice the change, obviously. I'm just wondering if he would like it or would he hate me for being superficial?
Name withheld on request
Dear Friend,
To hell with what he thinks it's your body, do whatever makes you feel good about yourself. You should not choose your dress depending on what he wants.
Be proud of who you are and however you look. Stop worrying about how a guy feels with you on his arm, or in his life.
Just remember that as long as you are happy and comfortable that's what counts. Don't become one of those girls who show off everything or else guys won'tu00a0respect you and will just see you as an object.
As for your boyfriend, he knows your size and you're not deceiving him, so I'm sure he wouldn't be opposed to you looking bigger.
