'My girlfriend's unsure about marriage'

Dear Diana |

Dear Diana, I am 28 and a Christian while my girlfriend is 24 and comes from an orthodox Hindu family.

'My girlfriend's unsure about marriage'

We’ve been in a relationship for the past five years. We are keen on marrying but her family is not ready. So we two have decided on a registered marriage by the end of this year. Initially, she was strong but now she’s not very sure and keeps changing her mind every now and then. A few weeks ago, she even left me saying that our marriage won’t work — only to come back. What should I do?

Dear Salil,
Your girl has a wavering mind. It is sometimes a yes and sometimes a no for her. Till she does not make up her mind and sticks to her decision, there is nothing that you can do. You need to sit down and have a frank chat with her. She has to take a stand and then stick to it. If she keeps developing cold feet and harbours thoughts of the marriage not working out, it is futile to pursue her. Till she is not firm, there is nothing that you can do. Also, if she had her reservations, she should have thought of all this during the early days of the relationship and not now when you are ready for marriage.

Diana will solve it!
