Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma
For Sushmita Kakoti, a permanent resident of Assam currently residing in Delhi, it was nothing less than a nightmare when her 62 year old mother started showing the symptoms of Covid-19. Despite all precautions, the deadly virus had somehow slipped through the cracks. The alarm bells set off when in addition to high fever, her mother’s oxygen levels began to drop in the middle of the night. Not knowing how to react, Sushmita turned to Covid helpline numbers for assistance but did not get any answers. It was only when she dialled 8792739566, the Dedicated Covid Helpline Number of BJP Assam Pradesh, that she breathed a sigh of relief. Sushmita took to Facebook to describe her positive experience and express her gratitude to BJP Assam for their seamless, round the clock and personalized service. She described Mr.Nitesh Pandey, the person at the other end of the call and the person who manages the entire operation as a “God sent” who spoke to her “just like an elder brother”. Following his advice, she made her mother lie in a prone position which gradually helped bring her oxygen levels up. After an hour, she got a call back from Mr.Pandey to check on her. An ambulance was arranged by him for her mother to be taken to the hospital and her hospital admission was also taken care of. This is just one of the 4,000 people across the country who has so far been assisted by the helpline when they found themselves in the middle of a Covid crisis.
