Sonia Bajaj
Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Sonia Bajaj realised her true calling of wanting to become a filmmaker at an early age. After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Audio and Visual Production from Symbiosis, Pune, she moved to the United States in 2013 to pursue a Master’s Degree in Filmmaking from the New York Film Academy. Post the completion of her education, Bajaj began to pursue a full-time career in Los Angeles.

The filmmaker’s first short film ‘The Best Photograph’ was nominated and premiered at the Manhattan Film Festival. From there on, there was no stopping her. Her recent works include a short film titled ‘The Perfect Date’, that has won a Gold Remi Award from the reputed World-Fest Houston International Film Festival. The film has received prestigious nominations at the Canadian Screen Awards Qualifying – Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival in Canada and San Diego International Film Festival in the United States. ‘The Perfect Date’ has also garnered nominations from the popular Newport Beach Film Festival and Catalina Film Festival, both in the USA.

On being asked about her journey thus far, Bajaj says, “I’m deeply humbled and extremely grateful for this opportunity to live my dreams. Despite being so far away, my family has been my pillar of strength. My cast and crew have given their best, and I’m thankful that our hard work and collaboration has yielded immense success.”
Till date, Bajaj has directed and produced over 10 short films, and has won 25 awards and 12 nominations. The filmmaker has recently signed on to direct her first Hollywood feature film titled ‘Black Rose’ in the coming months. There is no doubt that she has earned the position of a prominent filmmaker.
