The Covid 19 pandemic has changed the way we look at work, school, and socializing. From lock downs to restricted activities to protect public health, Covid-19 has left its mark permanently on how we go about daily life, our routines, and even our healthcare. While the healthcare industry was impacted immensely, it made us reconsider how we approach preventative care and more convenient avenues to keep up with appointments. Dr. Kavita Mariwalla shares her insights on how Covid has impacted the healthcare industry and what that looks like going forward.

Dr. Kavita Mariwalla is a highly respected and well-known dermatologist working out of West Islip, NY. Born in England and a graduate of the prestigious Yale University, Dr. Mariwalla has been practicing for eight years. "The healthcare industry has made so many advances even just during the time I have been practicing," says Dr. Mariwalla. "It's is our responsibility as practitioners to give the highest level of care to our patients. That means embracing trends and technologies as they come along."

While Covid-19 may have restricted our day-to-day, telemedicine made it possible to keep up with our appointments and stay on top of our overall health. "Telemedicine is great because it allowed us to see our patients for screenings and appointments, preventing minor issues from escalating," explains Dr. Mariwalla. "Through smart-phone, application and video technology we were able to continue seeing patients safely. I don't see that changing."

"Covid-19 forced us to finally look at technological solutions as a permanent part of our healthcare strategies," states Dr. Mariwalla. "I felt the industry was behind on that, and the pandemic forced us to accelerate our implementation of telemedicine and other conventional technologies." Dr. Mariwalla also believes that the pandemic has made us permanently change how we prioritize preventative care, further explaining, "we saw that optimal health is no longer a luxury but a priority for everyone."

Dr. Kavita Mariwalla is excited for the future of care and committed to a patient-focused approach as the pandemic lets up and industries open back up. "Technology gives our patients an element of control over their preventative health," says Dr. Mariwalla. "In the future, that will be a big part of not only my practice but others worldwide." Through insight and development, Dr. Mariwalla believes the healthcare industry will always be prepared to serve.
